The majority residents of Veoveoana are Tsou people native to Alishan. Many of who had their homes destroyed by Typhoon Morakot in 2009. With the help of Red Cross Society of the Republic of China, they were relocated to what is now known as Veoveoana tribe, at Fanlu Township. The relocation and construction of the site allowed the victims and residents to call a place home and live life together.
To promote the original tribe culture and atmosphere at the foot of the mountain, and to create a sustainable working environment, the relocation saw not only housings built, but also an entire park dedicated to tourism and cultural development. Creative art centers, markets were built, and by 2019, archery fields and sika deer sanctuary have also been completed. The archery field themed with sika deer and deer hunting at heart. The entire institution is built to educate the skills and history with wildlife hunting and for the natives who can earn a sustainable living through their traditional arts and crafts. The tribe / village has successfully created a sustainable living and working haven.
